Hi! My name is Jennifer Valley and I’m an Instructional Designer. I have over five years of experience working in corporate training. During that time I've taken on the tasks of instructional design, on-boarding, eLearning development, translation administration, community management, project manager, SharePoint administration, multimedia creator, and residential eLearning geek. I have a love for learning and providing materials that will help professionals succeed. I have experience in multiple disciplines including health, safety, compliance, customer service, information technology, soft skills, product training and sales.
To be effective I use ADDIE as my main model but I am also able to apply the principals of rapid development and SAM. I like to keep in mind Kirkpatrick's Four-Level Training Evaluation Model, Gagne’s 9 Events of Instruction, the elements and principals of design, and the concept of user interface design while designing and developing material. I have extensive knowledge of most tools used in the eLearning industry gained from practice, product review and an odd obsession.
On a personal note, my font of choice is Calibri, I’m married, love anything technology related, and have two wonderful sons. My sons and I share a love of gaming, watching movies and super heros. As a family we enjoy road trips, exploring nature and going out to eat (I can't get enough Pho!). When I’m not working, spending time with my family or writing something for my blog I love watching Youtube videos, reading and organizing my life goals and consumerism on Pinterest!
Why I Blog?
I take professional development very seriously and take time out of each day to remain informed on the current topics and brush up on anything I feel is being under used. I began writing this blog at the beginning of 2014 and it's dedicated to sharing my knowledge, passion and experiences. I've used this experience to work on my communication and marketing skills, academic knowledge, website creation, social sharing and course development. I look forward to the extra time I can spend writing posts, making improvements to my site, talking with people on social media, and just trying to provide more value to my followers.Should We Work Together?
I'm not currently entertaining employment opportunities but I'd love to speak at your conference, event, or company. Please contact me via LinkedIn with the details.
